Accommodation & Hotels
Our conference venue is in the heart of London, with many hotels within a short walk.
Accommodation is not included in the meeting registration. Delegates are responsible for finding and booking their own accommodation. There is no specific conference hotel, but we have some recommendations listed below.
Hotels in London book up well before the summer and most of these hotels are already taking bookings for June and July 2021, which is peak holiday and tourism season. You are strongly advised to book as early as possible, and in any case as soon as you can. Prices are not quoted because they vary from time to time depending on demand and availability. Price changes are unpredictable and can go down as well as up. You may get a late bargain, but hotels in London in June will all be heavily booked. The price for each night will usually be different. If you wish to extend your trip with some holiday, consider staying extra nights after the meeting because Sunday night prices are often lowest. We do recommend that you shop around and consult the hotel and booking websites, the discount codes often only apply to standard rates, and cheaper rates may still be available at some times.
Several hotels are within 10-15 minutes walk to the conference venue. When choosing a hotel, you will find that hotels south of the river Thames are likely to be less expensive. If you wish to book without breakfast, there are many small cafes and breakfast venues in Covent Garden (to the North) and South of the river.
If you wish to book a hotel further away, we suggest you find hotels near to stations on the District or Northern lines (London Underground). The closest underground stations to the conference venue are Temple (District and Circle lines) and Embankment (District, Circle and Northern lines) or Covent Garden (Piccadilly line). A map of the London Underground (Tube) can be downloaded from the transport for London website: https://tfl.gov.uk/maps/track/tube. More information about travel is available on the Travel Tips page.
The organisers suggest two hotels, the Strand Palace Hotel and the Premier Inn Blackfriars, but there are many options, as well as apartments and Airbnb-type rentals.
This map shows the walking time from some hotels to the conference venue
Strand Palace Hotel
This recently refurbished mid-range hotel is only 150m from the conference venue. Single, small double and large double rooms are available with prices ranging from about £230 to over £400 per night. Note that single rooms have a single bed, they are NOT double rooms for single occupancy.
This hotel is likely to book up quickly, book as soon as possible. The hotel also offers a 25% promotional discount on bookings of 4 days or over, but this is a "pay-now" non-refundable rate. Details are available on their website:
Premier Inn Hotels
The Premier Inn chain of hotels provides good accommodation at a reasonable rate, but places will be booked early. We recommend the Premier Inn London Blackfriars (Fleet Street) at 1-2 Dorset Rise London ECY 8EN. This is approximately 1000m from the conference venue, a pleasant walk along the river. No additional discount is available as this is a budget hotel.
If you cannot get a room at this hotel, Premier Inn have other hotels in Southwark, Westminster, Farringdon and Holborn. The London City hotel at Tower Hill is on the District and Circle lines 5 stops from the conference venue. There is also a Premier Inn in the London County Hall building, on the opposite side of the river from the Houses of Parliament.

Premier Inn also do a range of hotels called Hub – these are modern “compact” hotels with smaller rooms at a lower price. There are Hub hotels in Covent Garden close to the venue, but also at Tower Bridge, Spitalfields and Westminster.
Hub hotels can be reviewed at: https://www.premierinn.com/gb/en/hub.html
The Hilton chain have numerous hotels in London including the first class Waldorf Hotel, as well as their more economical Doubletree and Hampton Hotel ranges. The most convenient for the venue are the Hampton by Hilton, Waterloo Road, Doubletree by Hilton, Southhampton Row, the Hilton London bankside and The Waldorf, at Aldwych.
Hotels can be searched at: https://www.hilton.com/en/locations/united-kingdom/london/
The Travelodge budget chain has a hotel in Holborn at the North side of the Covent Garden about 1000m away, a nice walk through Covent Garden market to the conference venue.
Prices are slightly lower than Premier Inn, but the hotel is more basic.
Citizen M bankside
Citizen M are stylish small design hotels with reasonable prices for central London about 25 minutes walk from the conference venue.
